The transfer of support from the Sinn Fein and Socialist Parties to the Fianna Fail and Fine Gael parties has been mostly attributed to what is being called the legislative debacle of 1924. The loss of support for the Labour Party has been attributed to the recent censure of many Labour Party officials by Oireachtas for the reason that Labour Party representatives had not attended several sessions of Oireachtas. Confusion Surrounds the Recent Peice of Legislation Shot Down by the Supreme Court
A new press release by the Socialist Party and a debate between top officials of the Socialist Party and the Sinn Fein Party has done little to explain the situation with the recent legislation. What is clear is that neither party wants to be blamed for writing the bill. The Sinn Fein party has prefeed to deflect blame to their staffers while the socialist party filled their press release with mostly unrelated insults directed at the four other major parties. With the election little more than a year away both parties will surely have to imagine innovative ways to regain an appeal for the voters or see their party lose seats in Oireachtas.

The court declared the act to be rediculous and declared it unconstitutional on the grounds that bills and acts cannot be passes together as a single act. The chief justice went as far as to question the sanity of the party leaders who pushed the bill through. Members of the Fine Gael party have supported the allegation that high ranking memebers of the two largest parties are mentally unstable. Patrick O'Kelly pointed to the fact that the bill contained an essay by a "famous Irish writer" believed to be Fank O'Connell that spouted fictional statistics from the future reaching as far as the year 2003. O'Kelly voiced his outrage in feeling forced to vote before the bill could be fully understood. Citizens have expressed their outrage that Birth of a Nation, a racist American film would have been declared the national film. The Authors of the bill also seemed to belive that Ireland was a city and that dinosaur bones would soon be discovered in Waterford. They also seemed to define a superior race in those with red hair and hazel eyes. The bill has sparked outrage against the Sinn Fein and Socialist Parties.
